Don't Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life - Sandra Beasley This is not my typical kind of read, but it was very good. I loved how Sandra's memoir/life experiences were entwined with others' experiences as well as some of the science behind allergies. I definitely have a much better understanding and incredible empathy now for people with food allergies. I'm lucky in that my only allergy is penicillin, and, as far as I know, no one in my family suffers any food allergies. It opened my eyes to the kinds of things those of us without allergies take for granted, and I feel even knowing a fraction of these things will be helpful when I have students with food allergies. A must-read for anyone interested in food allergies!
